Antenna
The metallic material used to transmit and receive radio signals.
Push-to-talk (PTT) switch
The control that puts the radio in transmit mode when pressed; it is held to talk and released to listen.
Over
A radio communication term meaning that the speaker has finished talking and is waiting for a reply.
Speaker
Based on the provided key, the device that converts your voice into radio signals when the PTT is pressed.
Handheld Radio
A lightweight and portable 5Watts transceiver radio containing an antenna and battery pack in a single package, used by police in the field.
Mobile Radio
A 25Watts transceiver radio installed inside a police car, powered by the car's battery with an antenna mounted on the vehicle's top.
Conventional Radio System
A type of radio system that utilizes a dedicated Base or Repeater.
Preventive Maintenance
Maintenance performed on a regular schedule to avoid expensive repairs and ensure the radio system remains functional.
