What is production and operation management?
the process of planning, organizing, and controlling resources to transform raw materials and inputs into finished goods and services efficiently. It covers managing production lines, supply chains, and quality to meet customer demands at minimum cost
What is lean production? How can lean production be achieved?
Lean production is the production of goods and services with the minimum waste of resources
Lean production can be achieved by using the following methods:
+ Kaizen means “continuous improvement”: small group of workers meet regularly to discuss problems and possible solutions
+ Just-in-time (SX theo đơn): is a production method which focuses on reducing or virtually eliminating the need to hold inventories of raw materials or components and on reducing work-in-progress and inventories of the finished good
+ Cell production (SX theo nhóm): the production line is divided into separate, self-contained units(cells): đơn vị độc lập/ tự vận hành, each making an identifiable (adj: xác định) parts of product à improve the morale (tinh thần) of the employees and makes them work harder à the employees feel valued and are less likely to strike or cause disruption
3. What is job production, batch production and flow production?
- Job production: the production of items one at a time (từng cái một)
-Batch production (SX theo lô): the production of items in batches. Each batch passes through one stage of production before moving onto the next stage
- Flow production (SX dây chuyền): the production of very large quantities of identical (adj: giống nhau) goods using continuously moving process
