What is the Knowt SAT Hub?
If you're uncertain about how to approach your SAT prep throughout the year, we have you covered with the Knowt SAT Hub. Made by students, this Hub is composed of SAT study guides, practice tests, resources, and flashcards for every section of the digital SAT. The main purpose of these resources is to help you understand exactly what's tested and, most importantly, score your best on test day. What makes our SAT Hub exceptional is that the resources are not only free but also crafted by students who've actually taken the SAT, so you get study notes that are easy to follow and cover the topics that really show up on the exam.
Can I make my own SAT study guides on Knowt?
If you're looking to customize your SAT study guides, you can! We recommend starting with the SAT study guides we have on Knowt, making a copy or duplicating the guide, and incorporating any specific tips your teacher or tutor might have highlighted. Consider our SAT study guides as a base you can build on as much as you want to make them your own.
How do I use the SAT resources to get a 1600?
Knowt has a variety of SAT resources to support your prep, but it can be confusing to know where to begin. Start with the Ultimate SAT study guide, which gives you a complete overview of everything tested across Reading & Writing and Math. Take a quick diagnostic to identify your weakest areas, then head to the specific unit study guides and flashcards to drill those topics. Finish by taking full-length practice tests to put it all together. Click through our SAT study guides to explore them in detail.
What SAT resources does Knowt have?
Knowt offers a bunch of free SAT materials categorized by section and unit. Within each section, you'll discover...
  • An “Ultimate Guide” to the SAT
  • In-depth unit breakdowns for Reading & Writing and Math
  • Flashcards for every unit plus high-frequency SAT vocabulary
  • Unlimited full-length practice tests in the real digital format

What is the “Ultimate” SAT Study Guide?
To make your life easier, we've assembled a single Ultimate SAT Study Guide that covers absolutely everything you need to know across both sections of the digital SAT, all in one place, so you can review the entire exam without hunting around.
Where can I find the SAT Flashcards?
The SAT rewards knowing your vocabulary and core math concepts cold, so dedicating time to the key terms and formulas is super important. By selecting any section, you'll discover an Ultimate collection of flashcards for the SAT, alongside flashcard sets for each individual unit. We offer several SAT flashcard decks covering high-frequency vocabulary, grammar rules, and math formulas. The most effective way to use these flashcards is to start early and use our spaced repetition mode to drill the information into your brain.
How do I practice for the SAT?
Once you've finished studying with the SAT study guides and flashcards, it's the perfect time to test your knowledge. We harness the power of AI to generate unlimited SAT practice questions and full-length mock exams that match the real digital format until you've thoroughly mastered the material. The most effective approach is to keep practicing, correct your mistakes, revisit the topics you got wrong using our study guides, and repeat the process!
Who writes the Knowt SAT Study Guides?
Every SAT study guide and flashcard set in the Knowt SAT Hub has been written by real students who've actually taken the SAT, just like YOU! That's how you know you can trust them to focus on what really matters for the exam.
Is SAT prep on Knowt really free?
Yes! Every SAT study guide, flashcard set, and practice question on Knowt is completely free. Our resources are made by students who've taken the test, so they cover what actually shows up on exam day without costing you anything.
Is the SAT digital now?
Yes. The SAT is now fully digital and is taken on College Board's Bluebook app. It's section-adaptive, which means your performance on the first module of each section determines the difficulty of the second module. All of Knowt's SAT resources are built around this current digital format.
How is the SAT scored?
The SAT is scored on a scale of 400 to 1600. That total is the sum of two section scores: Reading & Writing (200 to 800) and Math (200 to 800). There's no penalty for wrong answers, so you should always make a guess on questions you're unsure about.
What is a good SAT score?
A score around 1050 is roughly the national average. Anything above about 1200 is strong, 1350 and up is competitive for selective colleges, and 1500+ puts you in the top percentiles. Ultimately, a 'good' score depends on the schools you're applying to, so check the average admitted scores for your target colleges.
How long is the digital SAT?
The digital SAT takes 2 hours and 14 minutes, not counting check-in. That breaks down into 64 minutes for Reading & Writing and 70 minutes for Math, with a 10-minute break in between the two sections.
How many questions are on the SAT?
There are 98 questions on the digital SAT: 54 in Reading & Writing and 44 in Math. Each section is split into two modules, and the second module adapts in difficulty based on how you did on the first.
What is on the SAT?
The digital SAT has two sections, and Knowt has notes and flashcards for every unit in each one:
  • Reading & Writing: Information and Ideas, Craft and Structure, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions
  • Math: Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry
How should I study for the SAT?
Start with a diagnostic to find your weak spots, then build a study schedule around your test date. Drill your weakest topics using unit flashcards and study guides, and take full-length practice tests under timed conditions to build stamina. After every practice test, review each mistake so you don't repeat it. Knowt can even build you a custom study schedule from just 10 quick questions.
How long should I study for the SAT?
Most students see strong gains with 1 to 3 months of consistent prep. Aim for roughly 6 to 10 focused hours per week. Shorter timelines can still work if you study efficiently and prioritize your weakest sections, which is exactly what Knowt's custom study schedule helps you do.
Can I use a calculator on the SAT?
Yes. A calculator is allowed on the entire Math section of the digital SAT. The Bluebook testing app also includes a built-in Desmos graphing calculator, so you can use that or bring your own approved calculator.
How often is the SAT offered?
In the US, the SAT is offered several times a year, typically in August, October, November, December, March, May, and June. We recommend registering early through College Board, since test centers can fill up quickly for popular dates.
How much does the SAT cost?
The SAT registration fee is around $68, though the exact amount can change year to year. If the cost is a barrier, College Board offers fee waivers for eligible students that cover the registration fee, so check with your school counselor to see if you qualify.
Can I take SAT practice tests for free on Knowt?
Yes! Knowt offers unlimited mock exams that match the exact format of the real digital SAT. You can take as many as you need to build confidence and master the material, completely free.
