Highway Transportation System (HTS)

NCDMV Appointment

It is necessary to make an appointment at the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles for a permit.

Driving Eligibility Certificate

A document requested from school, valid for only thirty days.

State Licensing System

Includes a learners permit, intermediate drivers license, and full drivers license.

GDL

Stands for Graduated License Program, aimed at reducing teen crashes.

Driver Education Course

Completing this course does not guarantee safe driving; inexperience is a major issue for new drivers.

Graduated Drivers License Permit Process

Created to reduce teen crashes and requires 10 logged hours of night driving.

Levels of Graduated Drivers License

The three levels are permit, provisional license, and full license.

Level I Permit Requirements

Must be 16 years old and complete a driving log with a minimum of 60 hours to obtain a license.
