Relation
A set of ordered pairs (x, y).
Function
Each input (x) has only 1 output (y).
F(x), H(x), G(x)
Same as y or output.
Zeros of a function
Roots, x-intercepts, solutions (where the line crosses the x-axis).
Slope-intercept form
y = mx + b
Point-slope form
y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)
Standard form
Ax + By = C; A is positive or zero, no fractions, no common factors for A, B, and C.
Slope (m)
y₂ - y₁ / x₂ - x₁
Vertical line
x = #; undefined slope
Horizontal line
y = # ; zero slope
Parallel lines
Same slope.
Perpendicular lines
Opposite reciprocal (3 -> -1/3).
Substitution (systems of equations)
Plug in for 1 variable solve then plug in again.
Elimination (systems of equations)
Multiply one or both equations to get an inverse (4x + -4x). Eliminate the inverse then solve for the other variable and plug in to solve for the 1st variable.
