Transportation

Xylem

Phloem

The tissue in plants responsible for transporting food produced in the leaves to other parts of the plant.

Root Pressure

Pressure that builds up in the root cells, pushing water and minerals up through the xylem.

Transpiration

The process of water vapor being released from plant leaves through stomata.

Translocation

The process of transporting food materials within a plant, primarily by phloem.

Excretion

The process of removing waste and harmful substances produced in living organisms.

Nephron

The functional unit of the kidney that filters blood to form urine.

Reflex Action

An immediate and involuntary response to a stimulus from the environment.

Hormones

Chemical substances secreted by glands that regulate various processes in the body.

Cerebrum

The largest part of the brain responsible for voluntary actions, learning, and intelligence.

Medulla Oblongata

The part of the brain that controls involuntary activities such as respiration and heart rate.

Peripheral Nervous System

The system of nerves connecting the central nervous system to the rest of the body.

Tropism

Movement or growth of plants in response to external stimuli.

Homeostasis

The state of equilibrium maintained by various systems in the body for optimal efficiency.

Dialysis

A medical process of filtering waste products from the blood using a machine when kidneys fail.
