Algorithm

Is a set of well-defined instructions in sequence to solve a problem. We use algorithms to solve computational problems, and gives us an output as a result of the entire process.

2
New cards

Loop

Is a programming structure that repeats a sequence of instructions until a specific condition is met. We as programmers use loops to cycle through values, add sums of numbers, repeat functions and many other things.

List

Is a collection of elements of the same type. It could represent a group of numbers, words, names and any other forms of data that you could retrieve later on like email addresses and contact numbers.

4

Searching Algorithms

Are designed to check for an element or retrieve an element from any data structure where it is stored. One of the most commonly used searching algorithm is the Linear search.

5

Binary Search

Is an efficient algorithm for finding an item from a sorted list of items. It works by repeatedly dividing in half the portion of the list that could contain the item, until you've narrowed down the possible locations to just one.

Jump Search

  • Is an algorithm used to search for the position of a target element on a sorted data collection or structure. Instead of searching the array element-by-element (Linear Search)
  • Evaluates blocks of elements.
