Formula for Humanity

act so as to treat humanity, whether in your own person or in that of

any other, in every case as an end and never as merely a means.

Treating someone as an end

to treat them as an autonomous person with their own ends and

maxims.

Treating someone as a means

treating a person in away that helps you achieve your goals.

Treating someone as a mere means

treating someone in a way that fails to recognize their humanity; involving them in a scheme to which they could not in principle consent to.

Autonomy

the formulation of ends, and striving to bring them about.

Apathy

freedom from being governed by both feelings and inclination; reasons without inclinations are empty.
