A04 CONSTRUCTION POLLUTION MANAGEMENT(PRECONDITION)
Protect indoor air quaility during building construction and renovation through a combination of strategies: envelope protection, moisture and dust management, filter replacement, air flush and proper equipment selection
Part 1: Mitigate construction pollution
Ducts are maintained per: ducts are sealed and protected from contamination. And ducts are cleaned prior to installing registers, grills, and diffuser
If permanently installed ventilation system is operating during construction, filter must meet:
Media filters with a PM10 removal rating of at least 70% (e.g., MERV 8) are used to filter return air.6
All filters are replaced prior to occupancy.5
Moisture and dust managment prodedures: 1. Carpet, acoustical ceiling panels, fabric wall covering, installation, upholstery and furnishing are stored separately in protected from moisture damaged. 2. Work areas isolated by sealed doorways or windows. 3. Walk-off mats are used at entryways. 4. Saws and tools use dust guards to capture dust.
05 ENHANCED AIR QUAILTY( OPTIMIZATION)(4 pts)
Improve human health and performance
Part 1: meet enhanced threshold from particulate matter: (2 point)
1 Point: PM2.5: 12 µg/m³ or lower.8
PM10: 30 µg/m³ or lower.9
2 Point PM2.5: 10 µg/m³ or lower.9
PM10: 20 µg/m³ or lower.9
Part 2: meet enhanced thresholds for organic gases (1 point)
Acetaldehyde: 140 µg/m³ or lower.10
Acrylonitrile: 5 µg/m³ or lower.10
Benzene: 3 µg/m³ or lower.10
Caprolactam: 2.2 µg/m³ or lower.10
Formaldehyde: 9 µg/m³ or lower.10
Naphthalene: 9 µg/m³ or lower.10
Toluene: 300 µg/m³ or lower.10
Part 3: Meet inorganic gases:
Carbon monoxide: 7 mg/m³ [6 ppm] or lower.11
Nitrogen dioxide: 40 µg/m³ [21 ppb] or lower.11
A06 ENHANCED VENTILATION DESIGN (OPTIMIZATION)(3PTS)
Increased supply of outdoor air or increased ventilation efficiency
Part 1: Increase Outdoor air supple (2 points) options
Option1: increased air supple
Option 2: Demand control ventilation
Optoon3: enhanced natural ventailation
Option 1: Increased air supply
Exceed outdoor air supply rate in ASHRAE 62.1-2010:
Threshold 30%-1 points
Threshold 60%- 2 points
Option 2: demand control ventilation:
Met in at least 90% of regulary occupied spaces:
A deman control ventilation(DCV) system regulates the outdoor air ventilation to keep CO2 level less than threshold:
Threshold 900ppm-or threshold 500 ppm above outdoor level-point 1
Threshold 750 ppm-or 350 ppm above outdoor levels- point 2
Carbon dioxide is measured at the return air diffusers or in breathing zone at least 3.3 ft away from doors, windows, air supply. One sensor in each occupancy zone
Option 3: Enhanced natural ventilation
Implement an engineered natural ventilation system that sufficient to keep CO2 level in breathing zone
Same thresholds as part 2
Part 2: Improve ventilation effectivness ( 1 point) for echanced ventilation design options:
Option1: Displacement ventilation system
Option 2: personalized ventilation system
Option1: Displacement ventilation system
ASHRAE Guidelines RP-949.9
ASHRAE 62.1-2019, "Stratified Air Distribution Systems (Section 6.2.1.2.1).10
REHVA Guidebook No. 01 (Displacement Ventilation in non-industrial premises).11
Option 2: personalized ventilation system
For at least 50% of workstation is requriement:
Outdoor air is supplied in the breathing zone, with an airspeed of no greater than 50 fpm at the occupant's head.10
The return air diffusers are located more than 9.8 ft above the floor.10
