Menstrual Cycle Steps

Step 1

Day 1-5 lining of the uterus breaks down ( period )

Step 2

fsh produced  - stimulates follicle to mature

Step 3

Oestrogen produced which builds up lining

Step 4

High levels of oestrogen cause lh to be released

Step 5

Mature egg is released ( ovulation)

Step 6

Progesterone released from corpus luteum to mantain lining

Step 7

If egg is not fertilised  then progesterone and oestrogen levels drop
