standard anatomical position
the universal reference posture of the human body used by medical professionals and scientists to describe locations, directions, and relationships of body parts accurately
Key Characteristics:
Body posture: Standing upright and erect with feet close together and parallel.
Head and gaze: Head facing forward with eyes open, looking straight ahead, and mouth closed.
Upper limbs: Arms hanging straight down at the sides of the body.
Palms and hands: Palms facing forward with thumbs pointing away from the body, making the radius and ulna bones in the forearm parallel.
