JOEY (15M) and TERRY (16M) are sitting in Joey's car,
discussing a heist.
TERRY
I'm not doing this, it's stupid.
JOEY
What are you talking about? This is
brilliant!
TERRY
We would be going to jail over
cardboard.
JOEY
Shiny, artsy, expensive cardboard that
we turn into cash.
TERRY
We already have a good thing going for
us right now.
JOEY
Is that what you call fighting tooth
and nail over collector packs?
TERRY
But That's legal, Joey. What you're
suggesting will get us arrested!
JOEY
But we won't
TERRY
And why is that?
JOEY
Think about it, the delivery guy picks
up a shipment meant to go to Jewel,
Target, or wherever, but instead he
goes to a private warehouse to stash
half of the boxes for himself?
TERRY
Remind me again, how do you know this?
JOEY
...don't worry about it. Anyways, I
got it all planned out, nobody will
see us, nobody will get hurt, and
we'll be swimming in dough by the time
prom rolls around!
TERRY
If I say yes, when are we doing it?
JOEY
Tonight.
TERRY
Tonight!?
JOEY (CONT'D)
Where are the cards!?
TERRY
Joey, they could be anywhere!
DELIVERY DRIVER
Hey! Whose in there!?
TERRY
Oh shit!
JOEY
It's him!
TERRY
Who?
JOEY (CONT'D)
Put you're hands in the air, NOW!
TERRY
Wait you have a gun!?
JOEY
Of course I got a gun. We're burglars.
TERRY
When did you get a gun?
The DELIVERY DRIVER is sat on the ground. TERRY ties up the
Driver's hands with a friendship bracelet, while JOEY
interrogates him.
JOEY
Where are the cards?
TERRY
Whoa whoa whoa, let me get out of the
way!
DELIVERY DRIVER (CONT'D)
Under the papers.
Terry then lifts up the papers to find a small box. He grabs
and opens it, which causes a bright, golden light to shine in
his face like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction.
TERRY
Oh my God, Joey!
JOEY
They're ju- YOU HAVE ENOUGH TO PAY A
FULL RIDE TO COLLEGE!
DELIVERY DRIVER
For cardboard?
TERRY
Why do you have these cards?
DELIVERY DRIVER
...I work for this other organization
TERRY
Yo you're a spy?
JOEY
So who do you work for, FBI, CIA-
TERRY
Peta?
DELIVERY DRIVER
No its... it's a group you've probably
never heard of, but the owner's son,
he's got astrocytoma.
TERRY
Asteroidea, like meteors??
DELIVERY DRIVER
No! Astro-CY-toma, brain cancer.
JOEY
Ooooohhhh. So he's
braindead.
TERRY
Ooooohhhh.
DELIVERY DRIVER
No! He's still conscious. He's got
trouble moving. He started having
trouble walking about a week ago, been
bed bound ever since. Maybe has a few
more months or weeks left.
TERRY
Holy shit man, I'm-I'm sorry.
Joey lunges at the Driver, shaking his shoulders.
JOEY
YOU DID WHAT!?
TERRY
Joey!
Terry, puts the box of cards down and pulls Joey off of the Driver.
TERRY (CONT'D)
Excuse us.
JOEY and TERRY exit the paper room.
JOEY
Idiot! THAT'S AN IDIOT IN THERE!
TERRY
Okay stop. You told me nobody was
getting hurt.
JOEY
Yeah, he's still breathing.
TERRY
You pulled a gun on him and started
shaking him!
JOEY
We are in a hardcore and elite line of
work, Terry. We put our lives and
wallets on the line out there to make
money.
TERRY
But pulling a gun on somebody!?
JOEY
We're moving up in the world. We gotta
upgrade our arsenal a little.
TERRY
And become killers?
JOEY
You know the type of people we deal
JOEY (CONT'D)
with, this is no different.
TERRY
This is different, this is a kid with
cancer! He could die if I coughed on
him! He can't even walk anymore!
JOEY
Who cares!?
TERRY
I care!
JOEY
Let's stop thinking about the kid for
a moment, do you realize how much cash
we could make from this?
TERRY
...Yes... so that's we should take
half.
JOEY
Half!?
TERRY
It's a good compromise! The kid is
happy, and we're happy!
JOEY
We have the entire box in you- where
are the cards?
TERRY
They're inside.
JOEY
You left the cards inside with him!?
TERRY
He's tied up, he's not gonna do
anything.
JOEY
Holy shit, he's got a gun!
TERRY
What!?
JOEY
Didn't you check him when you tied him
up?
TERRY
No, I didn't think he'd have a gun!
JOEY
IF YOU SHOOT AGAIN YO-
Terry tries to run away, but Joey stops him.
JOEY (CONT'D)
-no, we're staying- IF YOU SHOOT
AGAIN, YOU'RE DEAD!
TERRY
...What if he tries shooting again!?
JOEY
He won't.
TERRY
No Joey, I think he's gonna do it
again!
The DELIVERY DRIVER first freezes after the bucket falls,
then flinches when TERRY pulls the trigger. As the two
outside squabble, he looks back at the bucket, then the box
of cards still in the room, and back at the door. He's got an
idea.
CUT BACK TO:
I/E. PRIVATE WAREHOUSE - CONTINUOUS
TERRY
YOU DIDN'T BUY BULLET'S FOR THE GUN!?
JOEY
I didn't think we'd need them!
TERRY
OH SHIT!
JOEY
What did you tie him up with?
TERRY
I USED MY FRIENDSHIP BRACLET!
JOEY
Do you know how easily those bracelets
can break?
TERRY
I didn't have anything else!
JOEY
You could have asked me for rope!
TERRY
Oh you brought rope!? You brought that
but not ammunition!?
