Handpicking
The simplest method of separation where the components of a mixture are physically separated by hand, such as picking out stones from rice or separating different colored beads.
Sieving
A separation method that uses a sieve (a tool with mesh) to separate components based on size, allowing smaller particles to pass through while retaining larger ones.
Filtration
A separation method that uses a filter paper to separate a solid from a liquid, leaving the solid behind while the liquid passes through.
Evaporation
A separation method that separates a soluble solid from a liquid by heating the mixture until the liquid evaporates, leaving the solid behind.
Decantation
A separation method that involves allowing the solid in a liquid mixture to settle to the bottom and carefully pouring off the liquid.
Using a Magnet
A separation method used when a component of the mixture is magnetic, allowing it to be attracted and removed from non-magnetic substances like sawdust.
