An alternate is required when

  • At least 1 hour before and after…

    • CIRCLING MINS

      • The ceiling is 1500ft above lowest circling mins

    • IF NO CIRCLING MINS 

    • 1500ft above the lowest published minimum or 2000ft above field elevation, which ever is higher


  • Visibility is 3 miles OR 2 miles more than the lowest approach. Whichever is greater (so basically the most limiting option)
