Electric Field
A vector quantity that represents the force exerted on a test charge at a given point in space.
Magnetic Force on a Current Element
The force experienced by a small segment of wire carrying current in a magnetic field, given by the equation dFm = I dl × B.
Magnetic Torque
The measure of the force that can cause an object to rotate about an axis; in electromagnetic contexts, this involves the interaction of magnetic fields and current loops.
Ampère’s Law
A fundamental law relating the circulating magnetic field in space to the electric current passing through an enclosed loop.
Biot-Savart Law
A law that describes the magnetic field generated by an electric current.
Magnetic Field due to Current Densities
The magnetic field generated by a distribution of electric current in a region of space.
Constituent Parameters
Material properties defining how electric fields and magnetic fields relate, such as permittivity and permeability.
Electric vs Magnetic Fields
Comparison between electrostatics involving static electric charges and magnetostatics involving steady currents.
Induced EMF
The electromotive force generated in a closed loop due to the change in magnetic flux through the loop.
Electric Field due to an Infinite Line Charge
The electric field produced by a long, straight line of charge, often calculated using Gauss’s Law.
