Designed to supplement seat belts in frontal crash.

They inflate at speeds up to 200mph, so you must be correctly belted with feet on the floor.

When driving in reverse what should be on?

What should a motorist be able to do in regard to their brakes?

Be able to break smoothly and quickly; able to stop within 25 feet at 20 mph

What can happen if brake lights aren’t working?

Someone may crash into the vehicle from the back. Motorist should have someone help check them.

How to check headlights?

Check them against the garage wall or on parked vehicles

When should you use the horn?

To signal when passing, when coming out of a blind alley, curve, or driveway, or to warn another motorist of a potentially dangerous situation

What do taillights do?

Signal other motorists in the dark and prevent crashes.

How should you maintain tires?

If you feel or hear thumping when driving check tires for bumps, cuts, or bad tread. Tire pressure should be checked especially when tires are cold. Ask for advice at service station.

How should motorists check their turn signals are working?

They should be able to hear the clicking and see the lighted arrows on of turn signals flash on the dashboard.

What can cause a windshield to break? Is tinting on windshields and front-side windows allowed?

Cracks or chips can cause windshield to break; NJ law prohibits tinting

What is CO?

Carbon monoxide, an odorless colorless gas present in a vehicle’s exhaust.

When can CO accumulate and potentially lead to fatal results?

Operating with exhaust leak, trunk open, holes in the body of the vehicle, idling in a garage or confined space, operating a vehicle with a blocked tailpipe (leaves, water, snow)

What are symptoms of CO poisoning?

Headache, dizziness, loss of consciousness, nausea, chest pain, and confusion

What are all steps of a starting checklist?

All windows should be clean and unblocked, the seat must be adjusted so the motorist can reach all pedals, inside and outside mirrors should be adjusted, seat belts should be fastened, vehicle should be in park and parking brake should be set, doors should be locked.
