How do you convert between reference frames?
Rotation Matricies are used to transform coordinates between different reference frames. They allow for the representation of the orientation of one frame relative to another.
What are the basic coordinate systems and how are the volume elements defined?
Cartesian- dV=dxdydz, Cylindrical- dV=rdrd(theta) dz, Spherical- dV=r^2 (sin(psi)) dr d(theta) d(psi)
What is the difference between an inertial and non-inertial reference frame?
An inertial system is not rotating or accelerating, origin can be stationary or non-stationary. Non inertial system is rotating and/or accelerating.
What are the three properties of an ortho-normal matrix?
Each row/column is perpendicular in vector space, The length of each row/column is 1, Inverse == Transverse.
How does the coordinate system affect integration
Integrate in respect to the reference frames.
What’s Euler’s rotation theorm?
[R313] = R3 x R1 x R3
What is a common rotation sequence in aerospace and what’s the sequence?
Roll, Pitch and Yaw - [R123] = R3 x R2 x R1
