Metaphysics

A branch of philosophy concerned with the ultimate nature of the universe or nature.

Substance (Matter + Form)

An essence that cannot be separated from the substance.

Man (as a Substance)

A rational and political animal composed of soul, body/form, and matter, whose purpose is active happiness.

Eudaimonia

Happiness or the state of human flourishing achieved by living in accordance with reason and virtue.

Cosmocentric

A perspective where understanding begins with the universe and nature, viewing human beings in relation to the natural world around them.

Ancient Philosophers

Important figures of Ancient Philosophy, specifically identified in the notes as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.

Theocentric

A perspective where God is at the center of existence, and human beings are connected to God because they are created by Him.

Medieval Philosophy

A philosophical period characterized by a theocentric perspective, shifting the focus from the universe to God.
