One of the most dangerous substances that erupts from a supervolcano. Volcanic ash particles are jagged and can cause a cement-like mixture to form in human lungs.

Mountains, often cone-shaped, that are formed by surface eruptions of magma.

Composite Volcano

Volcano with steep slopes made from layers of ash and lava; eruptions can be explosive due to high gas content, typically found at destructive margins.

Shield Volcano

Volcano with gentle slopes made from runny lava; eruptions are usually continuous with little pressure build-up, typically found at constructive margins.

Supervolcano

Volcano capable of producing an eruption with ejecta greater than 10^15 kg (1000 cubic kilometers).
