Letter spacing adjusted by visual appearance rather than the font's built-in metrics to eliminate awkward gaps between specific characters.

Tracking

Letter-spacing applied uniformly across a word or block of text. Uppercase labels almost always need more of it.

Kerning

The manual adjustment of space between two specific characters, distinct from tracking which affects all characters equally.

Leading

The vertical space between lines of text.
