Asexual reproduction
Reproduction occurring in unicellular organisms (such as amoeba and bacteria) from a single parent, resulting in new cells identical to parents.
Sexual reproduction
Reproduction occurring in multicellular organisms (such as plants and animals) from 2 parents involving sex cells, where new organisms inherit characteristics from both parents.
Sperm
The smallest cell in the body, produced in the testes and released in large quantities, which can move with its tail and consists of a head, nucleus, body, and tail.
Ovum
The largest cell in the body (plural: ova), produced in the ovaries and released once per menstrual cycle, which cannot move on its own and consists of cytoplasm surrounded by a thick membrane.
Ova
The plural form of ovum.
Testes
The organs where sperm is produced.
Ovaries
The organs where ova are produced.
