Range

also known as voice strength, it is in the middle of your voice range where you sing most comfortably. Voice coaches calls this the "sweet voice".

Tessitura

your natural speaking voice helps you identify your tessitura. This includes your normal talking pitch range, or the notes you use when speaking.

Speaking Voice

is used when singing high pitches, where you will feel muscle tension and vibration in your head, specifically in the nasal cavity. Falsetto and whistle are examples of head voices.

Head Voice

is used when singing powerful weighted notes without using head voice. Muscle tension is in your diaphragm.

Chets Voice

are the few pitches that you can sing using your chest chest voice and head voice: your lowest head tones and highest chest tones.

Breaks

is the combination of chest voice and head voice. Experienced singers can connect the two registers smoothly, eliminating the vocal breaks.

Mixed Voice

distinguishes the voice of one singer from another, even if they sing the same song. We all have unique voice timbres. Some may sound smooth, bright deep, heavy, husky, nasal, throaty, growling etc.

Vocal Timbre

is often a result of man's own singing expression and style, danceable and has a catchy tune when performed. Example singers are Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, Gary Valenciano, and Erik Santos.

Pop Singing

it is usually intense, powerful, robust, and aggressive. Dynamics can reach very loud through shouting, screaming, or vocal fry the lowest voice tone, which sounds deep, creaky, and breathy. Famous Filipino rock singers are Wolfgang, Kamikazee, and Urbandub.

Rock Singing

it is characterized with twangy or nasal vocals driving the sound vibration into the nose, and yodeling imitating the sound of fiddles through voice. Famous artists are Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers, The Carpenters, Bread, and The Eagles.

Country Music Singing

they are characterized by clear, speech level singing and distinct consonants, on top of complex harmony and rhythmic syncopation.

Blue Jazz and Standard Singing

it is soulful and heartfelt, with repetitive but ornamented melodies over a smooth and consistent rhythmic flow. Famous R&B singers include Kyla, Jay R, Morissette Amon, and Daryl Ong.

R&B Singing

it has strong, rhythmic beat, and often accompanies rapping, or sometimes, beat-boxing. Timing is a big element in this style. Famous Filipino rappers are Apl de Ap, Francis M, Andrew E, and Gloc 9.
