Lenses (Biblical Interpretation)
The cultural, theological, and personal historical frameworks or perspectives that a person brings to the Bible every time they read it.
Cultural Lenses
Geographic and regional perspectives brought to Scripture, such as Southern vs. northern or west vs. east.
Theological Lenses
Denominational and doctrinal backgrounds through which Scripture is viewed, such as Protestant vs. Catholic or Lutheran vs. evangelical church.
Historical Lens
The personal history and life experiences that shape an individual's reading and understanding of the Bible.
Grace (as a Lens)
The primary viewpoint intended to be used in all things to see God, the Bible, our lives, and the people in our world; something believers are never to set aside.
A Strong Foundation
Identified in the notes as the gracious gift of righteousness.
Purpose of the Law
Operates like a mirror to make people conscious of sin rather than providing the path to victory.
Victory of Christ
The source of spiritual victory, which comes through talking about the victory of Christ rather than from teaching the law.
