AWS CloudFormation
A declarative service that outlines and provisions AWS infrastructure resources in the correct order with the exact configurations specified in a template.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
The practice of provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure through code rather than manual processes, allowing changes to be reviewed and controlled.
CloudFormation Custom Resources
A feature within AWS CloudFormation that allows you to provision and manage resources that are not natively supported by standard templates.
AWS Infrastructure Composer
A visual tool integrated with AWS CloudFormation that diagrams resources and visualizes the relationships between architecture components.
AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
A software development framework used to define cloud infrastructure using familiar programming languages (such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, and .NET), which compiles into CloudFormation JSON/YAML templates.
AWS Elastic Beanstalk
A developer-centric Platform as a Service (PaaS) that handles capacity provisioning, load balancing, scaling, and health monitoring for deployed applications while charging only for the underlying resources.
Single Instance Deployment (Elastic Beanstalk)
An Elastic Beanstalk architecture model that provisions a standalone EC2 instance without a load balancer, typically used for development environments.
LB + ASG Architecture (Elastic Beanstalk)
An Elastic Beanstalk architecture model consisting of a load balancer and an Auto Scaling group, suitable for production and pre-production web applications.
ASG Only Architecture (Elastic Beanstalk)
An Elastic Beanstalk architecture model that scales EC2 instances using an Auto Scaling group without a load balancer, suited for non-web production background applications such as workers.
Elastic Beanstalk Health Agent
An agent that checks the health of applications in an Elastic Beanstalk environment, publishes health events, and pushes health metrics to CloudWatch.
AWS CodeDeploy
A hybrid service that automates application deployment and updates to provisioned EC2 instances and on-premises servers configured with the CodeDeploy Agent.
CodeDeploy Agent
Software that must be installed and configured on destination EC2 instances or on-premises servers ahead of time to execute deployments orchestrated by AWS CodeDeploy.
AWS CodeCommit
A fully managed, private source-control service that hosts secure, version-controlled Git-based code repositories integrated with AWS.
AWS CodeBuild
A fully managed, serverless continuous integration service that compiles source code, runs automated tests, and produces ready-to-deploy software packages.
AWS CodePipeline
A continuous delivery orchestration service that models, visualizes, and automates the stages (Code, Build, Test, Provision, Deploy) required to release software into production.
AWS CodeArtifact
A secure, managed artifact repository service used to store, publish, and retrieve software packages and code dependencies using tools like npm, pip, Maven, Gradle, NuGet, twine, and yarn.
AWS Systems Manager (SSM)
A hybrid management suite that provides operational insights, patching automation, parameter storage, and fleet-wide command execution across EC2 instances and on-premises machines.
SSM Agent
Software running on target instances (pre-installed on Amazon Linux and certain Ubuntu AMIs) enabling AWS Systems Manager to execute commands, apply updates, and manage systems.
SSM Session Manager
A Systems Manager capability providing secure interactive shell access to EC2 instances and on-premises servers via IAM, eliminating the need for SSH keys, bastion hosts, or opening inbound port 22.
SSM Parameter Store
A scalable, serverless storage solution within Systems Manager for managing configuration data, passwords, license codes, and API keys with version tracking and optional AWS KMS encryption.
