Types of pollution
Noise pollution, light pollution, visual pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, air pollution
Noise pollution
Generated by heavy traffic, constructions, demolition(rombolàs)
Disruptive to humans
Open air concerts, roadworks
Impede (akadàlyoz) concentration, cause mental stress
Light pollution
Brightening of the night sky, improper lighting, unnecessary lights
Inhibit the visibility of the sky, affects human health and sleep cycles, excessive lights Inhibit on the retina causes discomfort to the eyes, strain the eye, cause headaches and migraines, waste of energy
Light important landmarks, creates inspiring visual excperience
Visual pollution
Sth visually damaging to the nearby landscape,
Abandoned junkyards, houses, skyscrapers, graffiti, billboards
Air pollution
Contamination of air, by smoke, harmful gases(oxides of carbon, sulphur, nitrogen )
Caused by exhausts fumes, burning fossil fuels(coal, oil, gas), radiation spills, nuclear accidents
Mixed with clouds- acid rain, burning rubber, plastic releases carcinogenic gases into the atmosphere, has a fatal effect on human health, responsible for asthma, allergies, respiratory diseases
Radioactive pollution
When radioactive metals disintegrate, releasing dangerous rays, causes cancer, mutative diseases
Happens by the improper dumping of radioactive waste, nuclear accidents, radioactive contamination can last for decades
Water pollution
Contamination of groundwater, lakes, rivers, seas, oceans
When raw sewage (szennyvíz) runs into bodies of water, also happens when industrial waste spills
Land pollution
Degradation of the Earth’s surface, caused by the misuse of resources, and improper disposal of waste
Soil pollution
Comes from the use of insecticides, pesticides, other farming chemicals, which all make the soil unfit for plants, leading to soil erosion. These pollutants are carcinogenic and can cause neurological disorders, skin diseases . We can be affected directly by consuming produce that is grown in polluted soil.
Carbon footprint
Shows how much carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases one person produces in everyday life.
It measures the amount of fossil fuels and electricity we use up.
It can show people the carbon footprint of the products we buy.
Air travel
Largest component of the carbon footprinte
