what you keep the same in an investigation
controlled variable
what you keep the same in an investigation
Hypothesis
A scientific prediction that can be tested
experiment
a controlled procedure to test a hypothesis
constraints
Limitations of time and resources that set experiment boundaries
scientific method
Often the scientific method the method of discovery used by scientists from the Enlightenment onward, in which a question is identified, data are gathered through observation and research, a hypothesis is formulated and then tested through experimentation, and the results are analyzed to draw a conclusion: usually followed, in the scientific community, by sharing the results so that others can attempt to replicate and confirm them independently.
Natural Phenomena
any observable event or physical process that happens in nature without any human intervention
Observation
an act or instance of noticing or perceiving.
Inference
something that is inferred.
Qualitative
pertaining to or concerned with quality or qualities.
Quantitative
that is or may be estimated by quantity.
Constraints
Players receiving the pass have to be comfortable doing so under pressure and naturally, some are more suited to these constraints.
Variable
apt or liable to vary or change; changeable: variable moods.
Independent variable
Mathematics. a variable in a functional relation whose value determines the value or values of other variables, as x in the relation y = 3 x 2 .
Dependent variable
the event studied and expected to change when the independent variable is changed.
Controlled variable
Statistics. Also control a person, group, event, etc., that is used as a constant and unchanging standard of comparison in scientific experimentation.
Hypothesis
a proposition assumed as a premise in an argument.
Experiment
a test, trial, or tentative procedure; an act or operation for the purpose of discovering something unknown or of testing a principle, supposition, etc..
Fair test
A fair test is a scientific experiment where you change only one factor while keeping all other conditions exactly the same
Inquiry Question
an open ended central question that drives research, critical thinking question that drives research,
Attraction
the act, power, or property of attracting.
Attraction
the act, power, or property of attracting.
Cohesion
Physics. the molecular force between particles within a body or substance that acts to unite them.
Surface Tension
a property of liquids caused by intermolecular forces near the surface leading to the apparent presence of a surface film and to capillarity, etc
