Type: Simple cuboidal
Location: Kidney tubes, glands
FunctionL secretion of products, some reabsorption of substances in kidneys

Type: Simple Squamous
Location: Lung alveoli (air sacs), capillaries (small blood vessels)
Function: Diffusion of substances

Type: Simple Columnar
Location: intestinal lining
Function: Absorption of nutrients, especially with microvilli projections increasing surface area for it

Cilia on hollow-facing side (lumen) of cells
Type: Pseudostratified columnar
Location: respiratory tract lining
Function: Secretion of mucus, trapping foreign particles, cilia move the mucus along lumen away from lungs

Type: Stratified squamous
Location: Epidermis (top part) of skin, other openings (anus, vagina, oral cavity)
Function: Protection from external environment

Type: Stratified cuboidal
Location: Sweat glands specifically
Function: Secretion of a product (sweat)

Type: Stratified columnar
very rare

Type: Skeletal muscle
Location: Muscles that attach to skeleton (i.e. Biceps, quadriceps, etc.)
Function: Movement of bones, heat production

Type: Cardiac Muscle
Location: Myocardium (heart muscle)
Function: movement of blood, generation of blood pressure

Type: smooth muscle
Location: walls of hollow organs (intestines, arteries, stomach, etc.)
Function: Movement of food, regulating blood pressure, etc.

Type: nervous tissue
Location: Brain/Spinal cord (central nervous system), nerves (peripheral nervous system)
Function: Detect, process, coordinate motor outputs

Type: Dense, irregular connective tissue
Location: Dermis (deep part of skin), skeletal muscle fascicles (sheaths of muscles)
Function: Binding, able to stretch

Type: Dense, regular connective tissue
Location: Tendons and ligaments
Function: Anchoring bones to bones and bones to muscles (also in high-pressure arteries with some elastic tissue)

Type: Areolar
Location: widespread between many tissue types
Function: Binding and connecting tissues to each other

Type: Reticular
Location: Lymphoid tissues (spleen, lymph, nodes, bone marrow)
Function: Structural support and houses white blood cells

Type: Adipose
Location: widespread, under skin, padding organs
Function: Insulation, padding, energy storage

Type: Hyaline cartilage
Location: Ends of bones, ribs
Function: protection

Type: Blood
Function: Transport O2 and CO2 and nutrients/waste throughout the body

Type: Bone
Function: Support, calcium storage

Type: elastic cartilage
Location: ‘E’ words- Ears, epiglottis, Eustachian tubes
Function: Flexibility of small structures

Type: Fibrocartilage
Location: Padded areas (intervertebral discs, meniscus of knee, public symphysis)
Function: Padding
