Heat Evaporation
the quantity of heat a liquid must have to convert from a liquid to a gas. It is caused by hydrogen bonds. (Example; sweating)
Spring Turnover
the seasonal mix of fresh or pond water driven by temp an density changes as ice melts and surface water temp rises
Cohesion
the hydrogen bonding between like molecules ( water droplets on a penny)
Adhesion
the hydrogen bonding between unalike molecules ( paint drying on a wall)
Electronegativity
The attractvness of an element ( Ex; H20)
Polar
an electron that has a partial positive and negative charge ( Ex; H20)
Nonpolar
an electron that has equal sharing of electrons ( Ex; 02, Co2)
Surface Tension
a measure of how difficult it is to stretch or break the surface of a liquid ( Ex;water has a greater surface Tension than most liquids)
Specific heat capacity
the amount of heat that must be absorbed or lost for a temp to change (Ex; the ocean)
Ice Density
the
Universal Solvent
