HARD WOODS

OAK

hard , tough strong durable , open grain containing fewer nots , weather protection.

MAHAGONY

Reddish colour, contains very few knots, fairly easy to work, has sme protection to weathering

BEECH

hard strong,close grained timber , light brown colour , few knots. need to be prtected from weathering

balsa

very lightweight soft and easily to work with, contains ver few knots not durable

JUELTOG

close grained timber, pale colour, medium hardness and toughness , easily worked, very poor to weathering

brich

even straight grained timber , easy to work , contains some knots , poor resistence

ash

strong , tough , durable , flexible with few nots, light coloured , has some resisitence to weahering

pine (softwood)

straight grained timber, light yellow coloured timber with distinctive grain, strong and lightweight

cedar (softwood)

very resistant to weathering, light reddish coloutr, easy work 

larch (soft wood)

tough durable good weathe rresitence 

MDF

flat smooth surface quite cheap, little protection from weathering, easy to work with, abrasive

plywood (maunfavturing)

very strong flat surface , resistent to twisting and warping, easy to work with but an snap 

chipboard 

made from material with limitee strength , easy to wrok but has very little prtection
