command center brain and spinal cord

All nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, carries messages to Central Nervous system

Sensory (Afferent) Neurons

Neurons that carry information towards the central nervous system

Motor (efficient) neurons

Carry commands away from the Central nervous system to the muscles and glands

Inter Neurons

Neurons inside central nervous system that connect sensory + motor neurons “do the thinking”

Somatic Nervous System

controls voluntary movements using skeletal muscle

Autonomic Nervous System

involuntary functions; heart rate, breathing, digestion

Parasympathetic Nervous System

calms the body and conserves energy

Endocrine System

slow communication system using hormones released into blood stream

Arenal Gland

above kidney and releases stress hormones

Pituitary Gland

controls endocrine gland releases many hormones
