What is meant by reflective practice?
Reflective practice refers to the ability to think about our actions and gain a better understanding of what we do in order to reflect on how we can improve.

They are entirely government-funded but not run by local authorities, giving them control over budgeting, curriculum, finances, and teachers' pay.
When was the National Curriculum introduced, and how was it reformed in 2014?
It was introduced in 1988 under the Education Reform Act for 12 subjects. In 2014, it was 'slimmed down' so that only the core subjects of English, maths, and science are prescribed in detail.
What are the key arguments for and against selective education?
For: It encourages social mobility as any young person can take a test to enter. Against: Affluent parents can hire tutors to pass tests, and availability varies geographically.
What key legislative/policy changes affected KS3 and KS1 SATs?
KS3 SATs were abolished in 2008, and KS1 SATs became non-statutory from 2023.
Which types of schools offer International GCSEs (IGCSEs) in England?
IGCSEs are not offered by state schools in England, but by private and international schools.
What are four downsides of using digital technology in classrooms?
It is expensive and quickly outdated, technical issues consume teaching time, strong firewalls are required for safeguarding, and it can limit social interactions.
What is blended learning?
A style of teaching that uses a blend of online and face-to-face teaching.

Mood swings, lack of appetite, or physical health problems.
What does CPD stand for and mean?
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development, which means ongoing professional training and development.
What is the role of a 'critical friend' when giving feedback?
A critical friend works with a practitioner to provide positive support and constructive criticism.
