G1
Cell grows, copies organelles, commitment to cell division
S-phase
Centrosomes copy/split into two
G2
Fixes errors in DNA, makes proteins for mitosis
Prophase
Centrosomes move to opposite ends to prepare or alignment, chromatin condenses into chromosomes, nuclear envelope dissolves to prepare for alignment
Metaphase
Chromosomes line up in the center, spindle fibers attach to the centromeres of the chromosomes
Anaphase
Chromosomes are pulled apart into chromatids by the spindle fibers
Telophase
Spindle fibers let go of the chromatids, nuclear envelope reforms, chromosomes decondense back into chromatin
Cytokinesis
Cell divides and is prepared to enter G1
