a landline
a telephone that is connected by wires to a fixed location, such as a home or office, rather than a mobile phone. (Стаціонарний телефон, домашній телефон.)
Examples:

to dial
to enter a telephone number by pressing the numbers on a phone in order to make a call. (Набирати номер телефону.)

To text somebody
to send someone a written message using a mobile phone. (Написати комусь повідомлення, надіслати SMS / повідомлення.)

to hang up
To hang up — to end a phone call by putting down the phone or pressing the button to disconnect. (Покласти слухавку, завершити телефонну розмову.)
Examples:

She got angry and _______ before I could explain.
I accidentally _______ while I was trying to turn up the volume.
To leave a message on somebody's voicemail
to record a spoken message for someone when they do not answer the phone. (Залишити комусь голосове повідомлення на автовідповідачі / голосовій пошті.)
Examples:

If she doesn't pick up, just _______ her voicemail.
I _______ his voicemail asking him to call me back.

To be engaged
to have formally agreed to marry someone. (Бути зарученим / зарученою.)
Examples:

to go off
to start making a sudden loud sound, for example an alarm, phone, or timer. (Задзвонити, спрацювати, увімкнутися зі звуком.)

I was in the shower when my phone _______.

To put somebody on hold
to make someone wait during a phone call, usually while you check something or connect them to another person. (Попросити когось зачекати на лінії, поставити дзвінок на утримання.)

The customer service agent _______ him _______ for almost ten minutes.

to cut off
to suddenly stop a phone call or connection, often because of a technical problem. (Перервати зв'язок, обірвати телефонну розмову.)

I'm sorry — we got _______ before you finished speaking.

to pick up
to answer the phone when someone calls you. (Підняти слухавку, відповісти на дзвінок.)
Examples:

He finally _______ after I had been calling for several minutes.

To put somebody through
to connect someone by phone to the person they want to speak to, for example in an office or customer service department. (З'єднати когось по телефону з потрібною людиною.)
Examples:

The receptionist _______ me _______ to the manager.
I'll _______ you _______ to someone who can help with your problem.

To hang up on somebody
to suddenly end a phone call while the other person is still speaking, usually because you are angry or do not want to continue the conversation. (Кинути слухавку, різко завершити розмову з кимось.)
Examples:
I can't believe she _______ me in the middle of our argument.
Don't _______ him just because you're angry.
He was so rude that I almost _______ him.

You are frozen
your video image has stopped moving during a video call, usually because of a poor internet connection. (Ти завис / у тебе зависло відео.)
Examples:
I can't see you moving — you're _______.
Sorry, you were _______ for a few seconds, so I didn't hear what you said.
Your screen is _______ again. Maybe your internet connection is weak.

You are cutting out
your voice is disappearing or breaking up during a phone or video call because of a poor connection. (Тебе чути з перебоями / твій голос пропадає.)
Examples:
Sorry, you're _______ — could you say that again?
I can't hear you properly because you keep _______.
You're _______ a lot today. Maybe try moving closer to the router.

You are on mute
your microphone is turned off, so other people cannot hear you during a call or video meeting. (У тебе вимкнений мікрофон / тебе не чути.)
Examples:
We can't hear you — you're _______.
I think you're _______. Can you turn your microphone on?
She was speaking for a minute before she realized she was _______.

There is a lag (delay) between us
there is a short delay between when one person speaks or moves and when the other person hears or sees it during a call. (Між нами є затримка зв'язку / звук або відео передається із запізненням.)
Examples:
I think there's a _______ between us, so we keep speaking at the same time.
There was a long _______ during the video call because of the weak internet connection.
Sorry, there's a slight _______ between us — I'm hearing your answers a few seconds late.

Your Internet has gone down
your Internet connection has stopped working. (У тебе зник / перестав працювати Інтернет.)
Examples:
I think your Internet has _______ because I can't see or hear you.
My Internet _______ in the middle of the lesson, so I had to reconnect.
If your Internet _______ again, try restarting the router.
