Procedure for making a motion

Member makes a motion ("I move that...").

Another member seconds the motion.

The floor is opened for debate.

A vote is taken (usually by majority).

Types of Motion

Privileged, Subsidiary, and Incidental

What is a privileged motion?

Privileged: A motion of high importance or priority. Adjourn, Recess.

What is a subsidiary motion?

Subsidiary: Used to make changes to a current motion in an orderly manner. Amend, Refer to Committee.

What is an incidental motion?

Incidental: A motion that must be addressed right then. Objection, Point of Order, Parliamentary Inquiry.

The emblem is symbolic of the SkillsUSA organization. You are about to witness the Emblem Ceremony, in which the meaning of each component of our emblem with be given and the significance of the colors described. (Taps gavel once, calls for parliamentarian)

Recite Treasurer's speech

The Torch represents knowledge. The flaming torch reflects the light of knowledge, which dispels the darkness of ignorance. In the light of the torch progress will be made towards the vocational goals of the individual.

What are the levels of the Chapter of Excellence Program? What do they focus on?

Quality Chapter, Chapter of Distinction and Model of Excellence Chapter. They focus of meeting as establishign SMART goals, involving all members and working to incorporate the essential elements.
