3 trends you would talk about at a health convention
1) gut health -
- lots of attention being brought on tik tok, and instagram with wellness influencers, from what i have seen a lot of it has an underlying eating disorder type of notion ("debloat" - everyone thinks their bloated) - steer in the direction of what foods you can eat to increase gut health (pro and prebiotics and fermented foods, as well as high fibre)
2) plant based diets
3) culturally inclusive foods

what does self directed learning mean to you
3 differences between t1d and t2d
1) t1d is autoimmune (attacking insulin producing cells in pancreas), t2d is genetic and lifestyle factors
2) t1d tend to be younger diagnosis, t2d tend to be older although we are seeing younger diagnosis
3) t1d needs insulin, where as t2 might be able to control with diet, exercise, or other blood sugar controlling medications such as metformin
