Political Map
A map that shows human-made divisions and boundaries, such as cities, countries, states, and land boundaries.

Physical Map
A map that shows natural and physical land features, such as higher land, lower land, and rivers.
Northern Hemisphere
The half of the Earth located above the equator.
Southern Hemisphere
The half of the Earth located below the equator.
Equator
The imaginary line around the middle of the Earth that separates the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphere.

The directional points on a compass, including North (N), Northeast (NE), East (E), Southeast (SE), South (S), Southwest (SW), West (W), and Northwest (NW).

Windward Side
The wetter side of a mountain facing the ocean, where warm, moist air rises, cools, and falls as rain.
Leeward Side
The drier side of a mountain where air loses most of its moisture, descends, and becomes warm and dry.
Tropical Climate Zone
A climate zone in northern Australia characterized by hot and wet weather.
Semi-arid Climate Zone
A climate zone in Australia characterized by hot and dry weather.
Arid Climate Zone
A climate zone in central Australia characterized by very hot and dry weather.
Temperate Climate Zone
A climate zone in southern Australia characterized by mild temperatures and moderate rainfall.
Cool Temperate Climate Zone
A climate zone in southeastern Australia and Tasmania characterized by cooler temperatures and higher rainfall.

The political divisions of Australia, including Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

The primary bodies of water surrounding Australia, including the Indian Ocean, Southern Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Coral Sea, and Tasman Sea.
