P Waves
Primary waves that are the first to be felt during an earthquake, moving through the Earth and causing a jolt.
S Waves
Secondary waves that arrive after P waves and cause more severe shaking.
Surface Waves
Waves that travel along the surface of the Earth, causing the most damage during an earthquake.
Epicenter
The point on the Earth's surface directly above where an earthquake originates.
Focus
The underground point where an earthquake originates, from which the waves propagate.
