This set of vocabulary flashcards covers fundamental geometric subsets of a line, including segments and rays, as well as various types of angles and angle pair relationships.
Line Segment
A part of a line consisting of two endpoints and all the points in between.
Ray
A part of a line that starts at one endpoint and extends infinitely in one direction.
Angle
A geometric figure formed by two rays that share a common endpoint.
Vertex
The common endpoint shared by the two rays forming an angle.
Sides (of an angle)
The two rays that form an angle.
Congruent Angles
Two angles that have the same degree measure.
Transversal
A line that intersects two or more lines at different points.
Complementary Angles
Two angles whose sum of degree measures is 90∘.
Adjacent Angles
Two angles with a common vertex and a common side, but no common interior points.
Supplementary Angles
Two angles whose sum of degree measures is 180∘.
Linear Pair
Two adjacent angles whose noncommon sides are opposite rays; they are supplementary.
Vertical Angles
The nonadjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines; they are congruent.
Corresponding Angles
Angles that lie on the same side of the transversal and on the same side of the two lines; they are congruent when lines are parallel.
