Chemical Change
A change that produces new substances.
Physical Change
A change that does not produce new substances.
Synthesis Reaction
A chemical reaction following the pattern A+B→AB.
Decomposition Reaction
A chemical reaction following the pattern AB→A+B.
Displacement Reaction
A chemical reaction following the pattern A+BC→AC+B.
Combustion Reaction
A type of chemical reaction involving burning with oxygen to release heat and light.
Precipitation Reaction
A chemical reaction that results in the formation of an insoluble solid called a precipitate.
Precipitate
An insoluble solid that forms during a chemical reaction in a solution, serving as evidence of a chemical reaction.
Exothermic Reaction
A chemical reaction that releases energy, typically in the form of heat, into its surroundings.
Endothermic Reaction
A chemical reaction that absorbs energy, typically in the form of heat, from its surroundings.
Indicator
A substance used to help identify other substances, often through a distinct color change.
Reactant
A starting substance present at the beginning of a chemical reaction.
Product
A substance that is produced as a result of a chemical reaction.
