Compressor
A process unit that increases the pressure of a (typically gaseous) material, often throughout the course of multiple compression stages; connected to piping via gaskets

Air Compressor
A type of compressor that stores ambient air and compresses it for later release

Turbocharger
A type of compressor found in cars that compresses air by forcing it to move between rotating blades

Gasket
A mechanical material that seals the junction between multiple objects such as pipes and compressors to prevent the outflow of liquids and vapors

Absorber
A separation process unit that transfers unwanted components from a vapor stream to a liquid stream, making the former more pure and the latter less pure; the incoming vapor and outgoing liquid streams may be in VLE

Packing
A group of small objects in absorbers or stripping columns that increase contact between vapor and liquid streams and facilitate component transfer, but possibly causing foaming in the process; if dirty, can cause solid buildup and unsafe pressures

Stripping Column
A separation process unit that transfers unwanted components from a liquid stream to a vapor stream, making the former more pure and the latter less pure; the incoming liquid and outgoing vapor streams may be in VLE

Flash Tank
A process unit that alters temperature or pressure to separate components, where lighter components tend to exit as vapors and heavier components tend to exit as liquids; the outgoing liquid and vapor streams may be in VLE
