AEROBIC EXERCISE (CARDIO)
The term “aerobic” comes from a 19th-century Greek word meaning “with oxygen.”
A doctor and former Air Force colonel, pioneered aerobic exercise for health and introduced a point system in his 1968 book Aerobics.
He defined aerobics as a system of exercises to prevent heart disease, which later inspired Jackie Sorensen to create aerobic dance routines.

Aerobic exercise quickly became popular worldwide, with participation in the United States growing significantly within two decades
•In 1983, they created sport aerobics, and in 1984 the first national championship was held with different competition categories.
By 2002, it expanded to larger groups and became a Gymnastique discipline in 1996, with routines judged on artistic and technical merit.
