Cyberbullying
Bullying others through the use of technology, such as a mobile phone or the internet, through threats, rumours, or identity theft.
Phishing
A scam where criminals send fake emails or messages pretending to be from a real company to trick recipients into revealing personal information, such as passwords or bank details.
Search Engine
A tool, such as Google or Bing, that helps users find information on websites by typing in keywords.
Fake News
Made-up stories that look real to deceive or mislead readers.
Cookies
Small text files that websites save on your computer to remember details like what you have viewed, items in a shopping basket, or preferences for targeted adverts.
Computer Crime
Also known as cybercrime, the illegal use of computers or the internet to commit unlawful acts.
Trojan Horse
A form of malware hidden inside a seemingly harmless or tempting offer, such as a video or greeting card, that secretly infects a computer when opened.
Advanced Fee Fraud
An email scam that tells a sad story asking for money while falsely promising to send millions of pounds in return.
Virus Generated Email
An email appearing to come from a friend whose account was infected with a virus that automatically distributed messages to their whole address book.
SPAM Filter
A protective email tool that identifies and blocks suspicious or unwanted emails from reaching the inbox.
Browser History
A built-in record kept by a web browser of all the websites a user has visited.
Bookmarks
A browser feature that allows users to save links to their favourite web pages to quickly find them later.
