The variation is present at the level of a gene (whole gene, allele, chromosome). Is measurable
Species diversity
Variety and # of each species, easier to visibly discern as each species has its own niche or role in ecosystem
Ecosystem Diversity
The number of different ecosystems in a certain area, includes biotic/abiotic factors and interactions
Taxonomy
Classification of organisms based on morphology (form and structure) and related organisms are placed in the same group or taxon.

kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species
Binomial nomenclature
Homo sapiens, Felis catus, Ursus maritimus
