Software Development Methodology
A structured approach and set of guidelines used to organize, plan, and execute the process of building software applications.
SDLC
Software Development Life Cycle; the complete framework defining the phases involved in building, delivering, and maintaining software.
Waterfall Model
A traditional sequential software development methodology that follows a strict linear path from one structured phase to the next.
Linear Process
A characteristic of development models like Waterfall where each step or phase must be fully completed before the next phase begins.
Agile Methodology
An iterative and flexible software development approach emphasizing continuous delivery, customer feedback, and small increments.
Iterative Development
A process of repeating cycles (iterations) where software is continuously designed, built, and improved in small steps.
Small Increments
The practice in Agile of breaking down software development into small, manageable portions that are completed and delivered frequently.
Customer Feedback
Input from end-users or clients incorporated regularly throughout Agile development to guide ongoing software adjustments.
Continuous Improvement
An Agile concept focused on constantly evaluating and refining both the software product and team practices throughout development.
Scrum
An Agile framework used to manage complex software projects through small cross-functional teams and short, repeated work cycles.
Sprint
A short, time-boxed iteration in Scrum during which specific software features or increments are developed and completed.
Product Owner
A Scrum role responsible for defining product requirements, managing the product backlog, and representing customer interests.
Scrum Master
A Scrum role focused on facilitating team processes, guiding Scrum practices, and removing obstacles that block development.
Development Team
The multi-skilled group in Scrum responsible for designing, building, testing, and delivering working software increments.
Sprint Planning
A Scrum meeting at the start of a Sprint where the team selects work items and sets goals for the upcoming iteration.
Daily Scrum
A brief daily meeting where the Scrum team synchronizes activities, reviews progress, and identifies any work blockers.
Sprint Review
A meeting held at the end of a Sprint to demonstrate the completed software increment to stakeholders and receive feedback.
Sprint Retrospective
A meeting held at the end of a Sprint where the Scrum team reflects on their process and plans improvements for future Sprints.
