Gabe- “It’s just… Even when you know that they’re getting older, that you don’t have a lot of time left together.. You’re still not ready when the day arrives, y’know?”

“Totally. I can’t believe he’s gone.”

Jada-”For sure. One second.”

“Come on, Jada, it’s rude! We’re here to honor Felix!”

Lee- “Oh. That’s a long time.” Gabe-”Yeah.”

“And maybe *I* missed something, but who are you?”

Jada-”That’s for weddings.”

“Wait, is that why we’re hanging out with your little sister’s best friend?”

Jada-”I already did. She says she’s laughing so hard she’s crying.”

“Come on, Jada, Don’t make fun of Gabe while he’s grieving.”

Gabe-”The burial is private. You guys are only part of the memorial service.”

(Put hand on shoulder.) “We’re here in whatever capacity you want, Gabe.”

Riley-”Thanks for letting me be a part of this. I’m gonna miss being included when you’re both at Standford without me.”

“Riley, he doesn’t want to talk about Stanford!”

Gabe-”You’ll also be alone, just not at Stanford.” Riley-”Exactly.”

“Actually.. I decided not to go to Stanford.”

Gabe & Riley- “WHAT?!”

“I decided it wasn’t the best fit for me!”

Gabe- “…Not the best fit for you?”

“I decided…I thought I might be happier at Carnegie Mellon.”

Lee- “Congrats, that’s a great school.”

“Thanks.”

Gabe- “But I didn’t apply to Carnegie Mellon?”

“I know you didn’t..”

Gabe - “Do you not want to go to school with me?!”

“It doesn’t have anything to do with you!”

Gabe- “I thought we were both going to Stanford.”

“I know, I.. I was trying to find the right moment to tell you.”

Gabe- “Chris won’t be lonely.”

“I will be at first. I’m still gonna have to make new friends.”

Gabe (Pointing at Chris)- “Please leave.”

“Come on, Gabe!”

Riley (To Gabe)- “I would have chosen you. Chosen Stanford and our friendship.”

“Don’t make me go. Felix was rad.”

Gabe- “You’re making me feel even worse-And I was already feeling terrible.”

“I’m sorry.”

Gabe -”Just go back to Madison and laugh about how stupid I am for loving Felix and Chris and wanting them to be around forever.”

“Gabe, come on-”

Gabe- “I don’t want anyone at his memorial service who desecrates his memory, like you with your cat videos, or anyone who doesn’t value my friendship, like Chris with Carnegie Mellon.”

“I value your friendship!”

Riley- “Oh, shoot.”

“Poor Jada.”

Gabe- “Is it stupid to have a memorial service for your ferret when dads are dying of cancer?”

“No. Felix was a member of your family.”

Gabe- “Yeah… Well. Anyway, I prepared some remarks about Felix.”

“Go for it.”

Gabe -”I’m not doing a wedding thing?!”

“‘Dearly beloved’ Is a wedding thing.”

Jada- “Sorry about your ferret.”

“Sorry about Stanford.”

Gabe- “There Is lots to be sad about.”

“But it helps to be sad with other people. Anybody wanna go celebrate Felix’s life at IHOP?”

(All agree).

“I can fit everybody in my car. Come on.”
