Radius
The distance (or line) from the center to the edge of a \n circle.
Diameter
The distance (or line) across a circle that runs \n through the center point.
Circumference
The distance around the edge of a circle.
Dimension
A measurement of length in one direction. Width, \n depth, and height are dimensions.
Area
The amount of space inside of a 2D shape. Area is \n measured in square units.
Decompose
To break an irregular figure into two or more \n recognizable shapes.
Irregular (composite) Area
A figure that isn’t a standard \n geometric shape. Some irregular figures are made up of two \n or more recognizable shapes.
Volume
The amount of 3D space that something takes up. \n This is also known as capacity or the number of cubic units \n that can fill a figure.
Face
Any of the flat individual surfaces of a solid object.
Prism
A 3D figure with two identical shapes (bases) facing \n each other.
Net
A 2D pattern that can be folded to form a 3D shape or \n solid.
Cube
A solid 3D object with 6 square faces.
Rectangular Prism
A solid 3D prism with 6 rectangular \n faces.
Triangular Prism
A solid 3D prism with 2 congruent (and \n parallel) triangular bases and 3 rectangular faces
Square Pyramid
A solid 3D figure with a square base and 4 \n lateral triangular faces.
Triangular Pyramid
A solid 3D figure with a triangular base \n and 3 lateral triangular faces.
Apex
The vertex at the top of a pyramid were all of the \n lateral edges meet.
Slant Height
The distance measure along the lateral face of \n a pyramid from the base to the apex along the center of the \n face.
Surface Area
The total area of the surface of a 3D object. It \n is measured in square units
Lateral Area
The total surface area of a 3D object, \n NOT including the bases. It is measured in square units.
