Viviparous
Organisms that give birth to live young, a characteristic shared by humans.
Gametogenesis
The reproductive event involving the formation of gametes.
Insemination
The transfer of sperms into the female genital tract.
Fertilisation
The fusion of male and female gametes leading to the formation of a zygote.
Implantation
The formation and development of a blastocyst and its attachment to the uterine wall.
Gestation
The period of embryonic development.
Parturition
The reproductive event involving the delivery of the baby.
Puberty
The stage of life after which reproductive events occur in humans.
Primary sex organs
Organs that produce gametes and secrete sex hormones.
Secondary sex organs
Organs that neither produce gametes nor secrete sex hormones but perform important functions in the conduction of gametes.
Secondary sexual characters
External features which provide distinctiveness to the two biological sexes.
Scrotum
A pouch situated outside the abdominal cavity that houses the testes and provides appropriate temperature for their function.
Inguinal canals
Canals through which the scrotum remains connected with the abdomen or pelvis cavity.
Spermatic cord
A structure formed from the spermatic artery, vein, and nerve bound together with connective tissue that passes into the testis.
Accessory ducts
A component of the male reproductive system along with the testes, accessory glands, and external genitalia.
