What is this, what homologous structures does it become?
Genital tubercle, becomes clitoris and penis

What is this, what homologous structures does it become?
Urethral fold, becomes labia minora and male urethera

What is this, what homologous structures does it become?
Labioscrotal fold, becomes labia majora and scrotum

Ovaries

Uterine tubes

Uterus

Vagina

Labia majora

Labia minora

Clitoris

What is this, and its structure?
Labia majora, integumentary fold

What is this and its structure
Labia minora, skin fold (no hypodermis). It also has no hair, no sweat glands. There ARE sebaceous glands that open to the surface for lubrication

Prepuce of clitoris, like a hood over the clitoris

Clitoris
What are the 2 types of erectile tissues?
Cavernous erectile tissue is the most vascular, spongy erectile tissue is slightly less highly vascular

What is this, and its structure?
Crus of clitoris, cavernous erectile tissue. It is deep

Body of clitoris, cavernous erectile tissue. It is covered by the prepuce

Glans of clitoris, spongy erectile tissue. It is not covered by prepuce

What is this and its structure?
Vestibule of vagina, nonkeratinized stratified squamous epithelium. Usually covered by labia

What is this and its structure?
Bulb of vestibule, spongy erectile tissue

What is this and its function?
Greater vestibular gland, secrete a lubricant. Ducts enter the vestibule.

Fimbriae

Abdominal ostium

Name the regions of this organ. Where are all the regions?
Fundus of uterus, body of uterus, and cervix of uterus. Fundus and body are in the abdominal cavity, the cervix is in the pelvis.

What is the green line and its structure?
Perimetrium, also a section of the coelom. Mesothelium (serosa)

What is this layer and its structure?
Myometrium. Smooth muscle + connective tissue

What is this and its structure?
Endometrium. Variable epithelium, and menstruation is the shedding of the endometrium.
How early do oogonia cells develop?
After 2 months as an embryo all oogonia cells are developed. Then they are frozen in a stage of meosis until menstration, where 1/20 finish meiosis and survive
Explain ovulation
The oocyte creates a blister in the ovary, pops into the coelomic cavity, and then the fimbriae catch it and the oocyte goes down the inside of the coelom

Vaginal fornix

What is this and its structure? What are the folds called?
Mucosa of vagina, stratified squamous epithelium. It has rugae to allow vagina to expand

What is this and its structure?
Spongy layer of vagina, submucosa. Made of vascular connective tissue

What is this and its structure?
Muscular layer of vagina, mainly smooth muscle and becomes skeletal

What is this and its structure?
Adventitial/serosal layer, dense irregular connective tissue
Functions of vagina?
Drainage, penile receptacle, birthing canal

Scrotum, integument w thin hypodermis

Testis, site of male gamete production. They are tubular

Spermatic cord

Ductus deferens, duct where sperm will travel

Seminal glands, produce semen

Prostate gland, sits underneath bladder

Bulbourethral gland, sit in the muscle of the pelvis

Penis, delivery structure

Compartments of the testis, aka lobules

Convoluted seminiferous tubules (~2 feet in length, 1-4 per lobule)

Straight tubules

Rete testis, net-like structure

Efferent ductules, exit the testis

Epididymis, coiled tube on testis

Ductus deferens, muscular tube

Ejaculatory duct (in the prostate)

Urethra

Prostatic urethra

Membranous urethra (intermediate urethra), runs through muscular layer in floor of pelvis

Spongy urethra, runs through spongy erectile tissue
