Niagara Movement
1905- outlined clear principles for equality
SCLC
1957- Southern Christian Leadership Conference- organised campaigns, put pressure on gov for a Civil rights bill. declined in influence in 7-s as NAACP had a better protesting style.
CORE
1942- Congress of Racial Equality- against northern segregation, double V campaign
SNCC
1960- Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee- students, organised sit ins, and used media well e.g in nashville 1960 with 3000 protesters
NAACP
1909- National Association for the Advancement of Colored People- used courts to end discrimination, launched voter registration, found out that in 1949- 179 spent on a white child- only 43 on black.
National Urban League
1911- campaigned for discrimination bans in jobs/housing
UNIA
1914- Universal Negro Improvement Association- advancement but still separated, only minority approved
Black Panthers
1966- 10 point programme e.g free all blacks from jail, all black juries, better housing etc, militant
