What is the recruitment and selection process?

When a vacancy comes in a business the business makes a job analysis for a new job. This includes a job description which entails the general roles and the duties of the job that would be expected day to day and a person spec which considers the type of person that a business wants and the qualifications needed. People then apply then are selected for interviews then the candidate chosen gets induction training.

When business promotes current employees to fill a job vacancy.

What is an advantage of internal recruitment?

1)That if the business are recruiting internally other staff see that promotion within the business is real. this can lead to higher motivation and hard work from current employees/ high staff retention. This can lower the costs of having to recruit externally because the employee retention would be higher so less people leave.

2)The employees already know the promoted candidate - this means that communications flow more easily, this could lead to higher productivity and quality of service - happy customers.

What is a disadvantage of internal recruitment?

A disadvantage of internal recruitment is that staff who didn’t get promoted could feel discouraged and demotivated - this could lead to lower productivity or even people leaving.
